Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Ajax defender Jurrien Timber ahead of a potential summer move on a five-year deal.

Manchester United were the bookmakers’ favorites to sign Timber from the Dutch giants after the 22-year-old was spotted at Wembley before United’s FA Cup final against bitter rivals Manchester City earlier this month.

Arsenal set to add Jurrien Timber

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have submitted their second bid this morning for the Dutch international worth approximately $50m.

Timber is believed to love the project set out by Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Dutch giants Ajax are expected to accept the Gunners’ second bid after turning one down worth $38m last week.

Timber’s versatility is thought to be a key factor as to why Arteta is so keen on completing a move with the young defender equally adept at playing centrally in a back three, a back four, and as a right-back.
