Paris Saint-Germain are making good progress on the signing of Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez this summer.

The 27-year-old has been a consistent performer since his club-record transfer from Atletico Madrid in 2019 but the emergence of Alphonso Davies over the last few years and the signing of Raphael Guerreiro on Friday has meant that the Frenchman is no longer a guaranteed first choice at left-back.

Lucas Hernandez set for PSG switch

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman has been offered a choice of either a take-it-or-leave-it final contract offer to Hernandez or prepare to leave the club this summer with the defender choosing the latter option.

PSG are optimistic they can thrash out a deal soon for the left-back who will return to fitness next season following a horror injury he suffered at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last November, ruling him out for the rest of last season.

Hernandez will have to compete with emerging talent Nuno Mendes next season for a starting birth at either left-back or left-wing-back if he joins the Parisians this summer.
