Erik ten Hag remains keen on adding a new number nine to his squad before the start of the 2023-24 season after falling short in tempting Tottenham Hotspur to sell Harry Kane.

United have a number of options on the table, with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund also among the targets being assessed. However, a move for the Serie A striker could exceed United’s budget, as Atalanta are demanding a fee in the region of $90 million.

Correio da Manha, via Four Four Two, has claimed that United will instead step up their interest in Ramos. The striker scored an impressive 19 goals in 30 matches in Portugal’s top-flight last season.
