The latest reports have claimed that Newcastle are assessing a number of loan options, with Phillips and Gallagher both among their top targets. Man City could be willing to allow Phillips to depart the club this summer following the arrival of Mateo Kovacic.

The England international will be looking to secure regular playing time in 2023-24, as he bids to secure his spot in Gareth Southgate’s EURO squad. The midfielder made just 12 Premier League appearances last season.

Gallagher is another option being assessed, but Mauricio Pochettino is likely to make the final decision. The Chelsea boss will assess his squad when they head off on their pre-season tour.
