Premier League giants Liverpool are interested in making a move for Chelsea central defender Levi Colwill this summer.

According to Bobby Vincent writing for Football London, the Reds are looking at adding a new central defender to their ranks, and it is reported that Jurgen Klopp had scouts watching Colwill last season during his loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Levi Colwill future at Chelsea in doubt

Chelsea have already rejected a $35m fee from Brighton for Colwill this summer with Mauricio Pochettino believed to be excited to work with the England under-21 international, who is very much viewed as part of the Argentinian’s plans ahead of the former Tottenham manager’s debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Instead, the Blues want to tie Colwill down to a new long-term contract once he returns from the UEFA European Under-21 Championships where the 20-year-old has captained England throughout the tournament on their route to Saturday’s final against Spain.

Colwill is still believed to want assurances over the amount of first-team football available next season before signing a current deal with Brighton also still monitoring the situation.
