Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana has signed a season-long loan deal with Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin.

The 20-year-old Ivorian hitman moved to Stamford Bridge during the second half of last season from Norwegian club Molde but failed to make a real impact- only making three Premier League appearances without scoring.

Fofana joins USMNT midfielder Brenden Aaronson on loan in the German capital and will hope to kick on after impressing for Molde, where he scored a very impressive 15 goals in 24 league matches as MFK won the 2022 Norwegian Eliteserien.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Ivorian international said of his move to Berlin, “Union have developed extremely strongly in the last few years and it excited me a lot to be a part of this in the coming season.”

Fofana becomes Chelsea’s 13th player to leave during Todd Boehly’s clear out this summer and joins a list that already includes Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and former club captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
