Jordi Alba is close to completing his move to MLS side Inter Miami on a free transfer after leaving Barcelona at the end of last season.
The 34-year-old left-back is set to join former Barca teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets in Fort Lauderdale this summer according to The Athletic’s Tom Bogert.
Jordi Alba set for Inter Miami switch
Alba, who has continued to make appearances for the Spanish national team despite being made a free agent, will sign for The Herons according to club president Jorge Mas with Messi expected to make his debut for the club on Friday evening against Cruz Azul in the first round of the newly-formed Leagues Cup.
“Jordi Alba will sign today. Messi will debut on Friday” said Mas.
Ex-Barca club captain Sergio Busquets was also pictured smiling with his new teammates during his first training session with the club on Tuesday.
Mas admitted to making an effort to sign another ex-Barca player, Luis Suarez, saying, “ I don’t know how Luis Suarez can leave Gremio. But if he does we are free to talk to Luis and bring him to Inter Miami. That possibility would be there.”
