Newcastle United are set to sign Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes for a fee of $50m after being locked in talks for over six weeks.

The 25-year-old quickly became Magpies boss Eddie Howe’s first-choice attacking option and will likely see the departure of Allan Saint-Maximin, who is set for a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli.

The news relating to Barnes’ transfer was first announced by Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano, who confirmed Barnes has also now agreed personal terms with the Black and Whites.

Barnes scored 13 goals in a relegation-threatened team last year and joins James Maddison out of the door at the King Power Stadium as the 2016 Premier League champions look to return to the English top flight on the first occasion after being sent down on the final day of last season
