Manchester United surprised fans last week after it was revealed that the club had agreed a short-term deal to bring Jonny Evans back to Old Trafford.
The defender had been training with the Red Devils after his deal at Leicester City came to an end, and United opted to sign the 35-year-old on a short-term deal so that he could play a part in the club’s pre-season tour.

However, the latest reports at ESPN have claimed that United could look to extend the deal if Evans impresses during pre-season. A central defender had been on Erik ten Hag’s wish list, but the former Leicester star could present a more affordable solution.
The latest reports have claimed that the long-term future of Harry Maguire could have a direct impact on the Evans situation. Maguire has been attracting interest from West Ham United.
Evans spent nine years at Old Trafford between 2006 and 2015, winning the Premier League title on three occasions. He then moved to West Bromwich Albion, before joining Leicester City in 2018.
