Leeds United have stepped up their interest in Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow, and talks are reportedly progressing on a permanent deal.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper is currently on Newcastle’s pre-season tour of the USA, but the Magpies are willing to allow the stopper to move on.

Newcastle willing to sanction Karl Darlow move

Darlow has been attracting interest from Leeds throughout the summer, as the Whites seek to add to their options in the position following the departure of Joel Robles.

Leeds are also bracing themselves for the departure of Illan Meslier, who has been attracting interest from a number of clubs across Europe following relegation to the Championship.

Darlow spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City, and Bournemouth were also among the club in the hunt for the goalkeeper, according to The Athletic.

However, Leeds are attempting to move quickly in the pursuit of the goalkeeper to avoid getting sucked into a bidding war for their preferred number one option.
