Atletico Madrid ace Marcos Llorente is set to swap Spain for a move to Saudi Arabia Pro League side Al Ahli.

The 28-year-old Spanish international has been one of Diego Simeone’s most consistent performers since arriving from city-rivals Real Madrid in 2019, helping Los Colcheneros win La Liga in his first season at the club.

As reported by The Athletic, the fee agreed for Llorente is $25m with Atletico reluctantly accepting an offer despite planning for the season ahead with the Spanish international in the team.

Known for an excellent engine and an eye for goal, Llorente has been used in a number of different positions by coach Simeone- including right-wing-back, central midfield, and as a second striker.

Al Ahli have already made significant moves this summer having secured the services of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, and Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle United but, at just 28, Llorente is arguably the club’s greatest coup of all.
