Manchester United have stepped up their search for a new central defender, as Harry Maguire nears a move to West Ham United.

The Red Devils and West Ham are closing in on agreeing a fee for the England international. A deal will see United dip back into the transfer market before the deadline, and the club have identified Jean-Clair Todibo as their top target.

Reports from RMC Sport have claimed that the Red Devils will step up their interest in Todibo after Maguire’s move to West Ham is completed.

The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the central defender, and were previously in the race to sign the Frenchman before he joined Barcelona in 2019.

However, Todibo played just five times for the Spanish giants before departing the club in 2021. He has resurrected his career excellently over the last two years, as he has played 86 times for Nice across all competitions.
