Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard after the Frenchman emerged as a transfer target.

Pavard, 27, has spent the past four years at the Allianz Arena following his arrival from German rivals Stuttgart in 2019 and has proved himself to be a reliable performer for the Bavarians.

Benjamin Pavard set for Man United switch?

According to The Daily Mirror’s Colin Millar, however, Pavard is now seeking a new challenge despite having an initial approach turned down by Thomas Tuchel’s side during the weekend. Pavard believes he has a serious chance of being a regular starter for the Red Devils this season whilst former club captain Harry Maguire’s impending departure to West Ham United continues to progress.

Despite starting Bayern’s German Super Cup final defeat on Saturday at right-back, World Cup winner Pavard is equally as adept as a central defender with Red Devils head coach Erik Ten Hag reportedly a huge fan of the Frenchman’s versatility and consistency.

United are set to kick off their 2023-2024 Premier League campaign tonight at home to Wolves and Ten Hag is happy for Pavard to create further competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot- his two current right-back options.
