Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven have completed the signing of USMNT right-back Sergino Dest from Barcelona on a season-long loan after the Catalans agreed to pay 50% of his wages.

The 22-year-old has struggled to make a real impact at the Nou Camp since arriving in 2020 but will be determined to make a home at the Philips Stadion with the Dutch giants confirming the move via their official social media platforms this morning.

The loan deal includes an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season and sees Dest join up with his new teammates immediately ahead of their Champions League qualifier first-leg at Glasgow Rangers tomorrow.

Dest returns to the Netherlands after starting his career at Dutch rivals Ajax. Indeed, the USMNT star could have chosen to play for the Dutch national side due to his dual nationality and will join up with fellow American international youngsters Malik Tilman and Ricardo Pepi in Eindhoven.

Dest said of his move to the club’s official website, “PSV were in touch with me every day and expressed a keen desire to get me on board, which was a good feeling.

“And on top of that, I like the style of football they play at PSV. I think it suits me very well.”

Dest will wear the number eight shirt at PSV- previously worn by ex-Manchester United star Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
