Juventus veteran central defender Leonardo Bonucci is set to move to Champions League qualifiers Union Berlin before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow.

The 36-year-old has been left out of Juventus’ setup since the end of last season and was not even provided with a squad number for the current campaign.

Bonucci is expected to arrive in the German capital later today to undergo a medical with the Champions League new boys before putting pen to paper over a one-year deal with the option of a further year.

A verbal agreement has been reached between Union and Bonucci and will see the experienced central defender leave the Old Lady for the second and final time in his playing career according to Sky Sports in Italy.

The Old Lady are expected to help pay part of the Italian’s salary as a gesture of goodwill. Bonucci’s new side will discover who they will take on in the UEFA Champions League group stage later today with the draw set to take place at 17:00 BST in Monaco.
