Reigning Serie A champions Napoli have denied rumors that they have entered talks with star forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia over a new contract.

Kvaratskhelia, 22, signed from Georgian side Dinamo Batumi last summer and became an immediate star in Italian football, scoring 14 goals in all competitions last season as the Neaopiltans cruised to their first league title in 33 years.

Throughout the summer, speculation has gathered over the long-term future of the Georgian winger and teammate Victor Osimhen- the league’s top goalscorer last year.

With Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis having a reputation for being a hard negotiator, summer moves for either of the club’s top attacking assets did not come to fruition.

However in a public statement today, the club has come out to dismiss rumors the young Georgian will sign a new contract at the club imminently, saying: “Some media keep reporting about Kvaratskhelia’s new deal. These are bullshit.

“No one from our club ever discussed a new deal with Kvara, the current contract expires in four years. There are no talks at all.”
