MLS outfit LA Galaxy winger Efrain Alvarez is set to be sold to Liga MX side Club Tijuana after a disappointing 2023 campaign.

An LA native, Alvarez has been at the Galaxy since the age of 14 and has established himself as a regular in the team up until this season.

Now 21, Alvarez is still yet to realize his potential at the Galaxy. The talented winger, who can also play as an attacking winger, is in talks to join Liga MX side Club Tijuana with the Mexican transfer window not set to close until September 13.

According to Tom Bogert, Alvarez nears an exit to start afresh in Mexico, heading to a side that currently sits 16th in the league table.

A dual national, Alvarez played for the United States at under-15 level, before switching his allegiances to Mexico and he currently has four caps for The Tricolor’s senior national team.

Ex-LA Galaxy talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic was left impressed by Alvarez during his time in the MLS, saying in an interview in 2019: “He’s by far the biggest talent from everybody [in MLS].
