Tottenham Hotspur are favorites to sign Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

That’s according to the Mirror in Britain, who are reporting that although European giants AC Milan want to sign the attacking Frenchman, his $63m valuation could price the Italians out of a summer move, paving the way for Daniel Levy’s Tottenham to capture a player they have been tracking for months.

Although Saint-Maximin, 26, is one of the Premier League’s most exciting wide-attackers due to his blistering speed and at times, untouchable dribbling skills, ongoing injuries and fitness-related problems have prevented the 26-year-old from becoming one of the Magpies’ regular starters.

Tottenham transfer news: Allan Saint-Maximin to leave Newcastle United for $63m?

Not only that but following the Toon’s decision to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton in January, Saint-Maximin has fallen further down in Eddie Howe’s pecking order, and in an effort to comply with financial regulations, such as Financial Fair Play, if the team from the northeast are going to make their own signings in the summer, they are likely to need to offload some of their own beforehand – and Saint-Maximin fits the profile of being a player able to bring in a decent fee.

During his four years at St James’ Park, the former Nice winger has scored 13 goals and added 21 assists in 119 matches across all competitions.
