Benfica have completed the signing of former Real Madrid and Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria on a one-year contract.
The 35-year-old was released by Serie A giants Juventus when his contract came to an end on 30 June after failing to agree on a new deal with Max Allegri’s side.
Angel Di Maria set for return to the Eagles
The newly crowned Portuguese champions confirmed last night on their official club website that they have snapped up the Argentinian on a one-year deal 13 years after Di Maria first left the Portuguese capital for Real Madrid.
The veteran winger will wear the number 11 shirt he wore during his first spell at the club and will be presented to the world media and Benfica fans alike at the Estadio da Luz on Thursday.
