Premier League side Nottingham Forest have signed USMNT number one Matt Turner from Arsenal for $12.7m.

The former New England Revolution shot-stopper joins the Tricky Trees on a four-year deal and is now expected to face the Gunners on Saturday lunchtime in Forest’s opening match of their Premier League season.

The news was confirmed via the club’s official social media profiles this morning after Turner successfully completed his medical at the City Ground earlier this week. Turner could now be joined by Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson before the end of the window after it was revealed talks remained ongoing between the two clubs over a second consecutive season-long loan deal.

29-year-old Turner did not make a single Premier League appearance for the Gunners during his short spell at the Emirates Stadium but performed admirably as the designated Europa League shot-stopper last term for Mikel Arteta’s men.

Speaking ahead of his move to the East Midlands, Turner said, “I wear my heart on my sleeve and I’m going to give it my absolute all. I’m looking forward to making a connection with my teammates, the fans and the city. I’m grateful to be here and can’t wait to get things started.”
