Leeds United have officially announced they have reached an agreement between Aser Ventures and the San Francisco-based 49ers Enterprises for the purchase of the club.

In a brief statement on the club’s website, the club confirm that both parties are continuing negotiations and that further details will be provided shortly to supporters.

The new owners will now focus on helping the club return to the Premier League following their relegation on the final day of last season.

49ers Enterprises first bought shares in the Yorkshire-based club in 2018 becoming minority investors and in that time the club returned to the English top flight for the first time in 16 years. 49ers Enterprises majority shareholder Marie DeBartolo York has been on the board at NFL side San Francisco since 1999, overseeing eight Play-Off appearances in that time.

The club had been owned by the unpopular Italian Andrea Radrizzani since 2017 and will cost the American consortium up to $215m to complete the purchase.
