Just the below the premium strikers are a group of forwards who are not quite premium in price but may offer good value for money. Here are some of those options:

Raul Jimenez (Wolves, £7.5m)

The Mexican international turned out to be one of the bargains of season 2018/19. The only strikers who scored more points than Jimenez last season were Sergio Aguero and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. His performance was particularly eye-catching, as he started the campaign at just £5.5m.

Jimenez scored 13 times, while also producing ten assists as Wolves finished seventh place in the Premier League table. His performances yielded 31 bonus points, which only added to his popularity.

Wolves have a potentially tough start to the campaign, as the team from the Midlands face home games with Manchester United and Chelsea and a trip to Everton in the opening five games of the campaign. However, as they proved last season, they can compete with the best on their day. Despite his price rise, Jimenez could still to be a very viable FPL option.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester, £9m)

The former England international has been the definition of consistency in recent years in the top-flight. Last season the Foxes striker scored 18 times and produced five assists, picking up 31 bonus points. Vardy has now scored at least 13 goals in his last four seasons.

The experienced striker is looking like a tempting option for many who do not want a premium striker but want a virtually guaranteed source of points from one of their front players. Leicester’s start to the campaign is a mixed one. However, Vardy scores against every sort of opponent, so the fixtures may not be as important.

Callum Wilson (Bournemouth, £8m)

The Bournemouth forward was another player who proved to be a bargain in FPL last season. The former Coventry star scored 14 goals and also produced another 12 assists, which proved that he is a team player. The England international has been linked with big money moves to Everton, West Ham and Chelsea. However, for now, Wilson is a Cherries player.

A big attraction to own Wilson is the Cherries favourable early fixtures. Eddie Howe’s side has five games that rank just two in their opening seven fixtures. His price of £8m may prove slightly expensive, but he will no doubt continue to produce for the team from the south coast.

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal, £9.5m)

The French striker played a key part for Arsenal last season alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. However, Aubameyang often started ahead of the former Lyon star. Despite not always starting for the Gunners last season, he scored 13 goals and 12 assists, collecting 20 bonus points in the process.

The France international also scored 14 goals in his debut campaign, so he is fairly consistent. If Arsenal are going to have a chance of finishing in the Champions League next season, then Lacazette will no doubt have a big part to play.

The Gunners have a mixed start to their campaign and Lacazette is not a certain starter. However, whenever he plays, he certainly offers the potential a good points haul. He may well be a player to consider later on in the season.

Will any of the above players be in your FPL team?
