Everton in talks to sign Juventus forward

|

If you believe the media Everton have been signing every player under the sun this summer. However, it seems they may be close to actually signing a striker in the near future.

According to the Daily Express, the Toffees are in talks to sign Juventus forward Moise Kean in a deal worth £36million. The reports also state that any deal is likely to include a compulsory £55million buy-back clause, which is not ideal for the Toffees, but it is reportedly not going to stop the deal.

A brilliant coup by Everton

Even with the potential buy-back clause, this deal could be an incredible coup for Everton. Kean is one of the most highly-rated young forward players in the world game. At 19-years-old, he has already played for Italy, scoring twice. He also scored six times in 13 Serie A appearances for Juventus last season.

He has a growing reputation in the game. The problem at Juventus is that he will struggle to play much first-team football with Cristiano Ronaldo dominating the Bianconeri attack.

The deal could suit everybody

This move could suit everybody. Juventus know that they cannot give Kean the first-team football he wants. That means keeping a highly-rated young player itching to play, who may grow restless. Inserting a buy-back clause is the perfect fall-back for a few years down the line if Kean impresses on Merseyside.

The move would also suit Kean, who is still raw and learning the game. At Everton, he would likely play a lot of football for a highly ambitious club. One facet of the Toffees team that is weak is their forward options. Although, young Kean is already an accomplished finisher.

Everton have searched for a quality striker since they sold Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in the summer of 2017. Current first-choice striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has shown promise, but he is still developing when it comes to finishing.

The other forward options at the club Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse are out-of-favour. In fact, reports suggest that the Toffees are attempting to offload the pair. Tosun is being linked to Everton’s potential move for Palace Wilfried Zaha, as a makeshift in the deal.

Niasse spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City. In recent seasons where he has stayed at Everton, the Senegalese international has appeared mostly as a substitute. The 29-year-old could move on once again this summer.

The fact that the Toffees may lose Kean at some point to Juventus may not matter. If the youngster helps improve his potential new teams’ fortunes, then they will be able to attract a better class of player than they can at present. Progression is key to Everton’s future. Plus they will be making a good profit on his sale too.

Next few weeks will shape Everton’s season

Everton are seen as part of a group of clubs who finished just outside the top-six last season that could break that barrier. At the minute, the Merseysider’s are big outsiders to make the top-six.

However, with the Premier League transfer window shutting in a few weeks’ time, the Toffees could well be one of the more active clubs in the transfer market. They are reported to be still negotiating a deal to sign Zaha, while central midfielders continue to be linked with a move to Merseyside, due to Idrissa Gueye’s likely move to PSG.

It seems that the Toffees squad may be much stronger than its current state after the summer window shuts. The signing of Moise Kean could be one of the best moves of all the Premier League clubs.

Will Everton complete their coup of signing Moise Kean this summer?
