The Premier League returns this weekend after a two-week break due to international action. That also means that FPL returns. We head into gameweek 30 in the back of a decent return in gameweek 29. We want to do even better in the current gameweek, so here are our picks for the current gameweek:

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea, £5.7M)

The Spanish wing-back has been back in favour since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as the Blues head coach. Alonso is part of a Chelsea defence that has been rock solid in recent weeks, although he did miss games against Manchester United and Liverpool, as he was rotated. His pick is a short-term one, as, with Ben Chilwell in the Blues squad too, he could be rotated at left wing-back.

However, we do believe that Alonso will start against struggling West Brom this week, which is a game that could be a very profitable one for the attacking Spaniard. The game offers returns at both ends of the pitch, as although he has only scored once this season, he has a history of attacking returns in the past. With West Brom struggling for goals, he has a big chance of picking up a clean sheet too. He could even be a captaincy option if you need to make up ground on your rivals.

Raphinha (Leeds, £5.7m)

The Brazilian winger has shone in recent weeks scoring two goals in the last five gameweeks. On paper, it doesn’t look like a great return, but in truth, Raphinha is unfortunate not to have accrued more points in recent gameweeks. There are very few players in his budget price range that have such a potential for returning points. Marcelo Bielsa’s side host Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United at Elland Riad, a game that could mean big points for the Brazilian winger.

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa, £7.5m)

The England international midfielder will make his return this weekend in the Villans home game against Fulham. Grealish has missed the last six Premier League games through injury. However, before that, he had scored six top-flight goals, as well as providing 12 assists for his teammates.

Villa’s form has dipped dramatically of late, as Dean Smith’s team has won just one of their last seven top-flight games. The return to fitness of their star man this weekend is certainly a boost for the team from the Midlands.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton, £7.6m)

The 24-year-old has become a popular FPL choice this season, as he has enjoyed the most profitable season of his career. After a short dip in form after injury, DCL as he is known by many has now scored three goals in his last two appearances for club and country. A home game with Crystal Palace on Monday looks to be a promising one for Calvert-Lewin.

Palace have previously been pretty well drilled under the experienced Roy Hodgson in recent seasons. However, this season only four teams have conceded more goals in the Premier League. With Calvert-Lewin in confident form, he could well prosper against such a vulnerable defence.

Will any of our gameweek 30 picks be in your FPL team?
