According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid have made a £137m bid for PSG’s French international starlet Kylian Mbappe. The report claims that the Parisians have yet to decline or accept the offer. It remains unclear if PSG will accept the offer.
The French giants have a massive dilemma, as the 22-year-old is out of contract next summer and would become a free agent. He has reportedly spurned PSG’s attempts at extending his contract with a view to making his dream move this summer.
PSG is in a difficult position
Kylian Mbappe is one of the hottest young players in the world. PSG will not want to lose the youngster. In normal circumstances, they could well turn down all Real Madrid’s offers and keep the player. However, even for a club with their wealth to lose a player of Mbappe’s value for nothing next summer would be a massive blow.
The French giants could keep Mbappe for another season and take the massive financial hit next summer. However, it seems that the youngster is determined to make the move to the Spanish capital. It will be difficult for the French club to keep Mbappe happy.
Richarlison linked as a replacement
The news of a Real Madrid move for Mbappe has seen Everton’s Brazilian forward Richarlison linked with the French club as a possible replacement for the French youngster. Eurosport claims that if the Spanish giants do get their man, then PSG will make a move for the highly-rated Toffees forward.
The 24-year-old has impressed during his time at Everton and his value has risen. The forward is believed to be happy at the Merseyside club. However, the prospect of a move to the French capital to play alongside his Selecao teammate Neymar may appeal to the former Watford star.
Everton are unlikely to welcome any interest in Richarlison, especially this late in the transfer window. The Toffees have struggled to strengthen their squad this summer due to FFP restrictions. Any big sale would help to bring in players, as he would cost a massive fee, but selling one of their star players was probably not in the plans of head coach Rafa Benitez. The timing would be a serious concern too, as it may not give the Toffees enough time to find a replacement or bring in new signings.
Still some time for deals to be complete
While it is late in the summer transfer window, there is still some time for clubs to complete deals. If Mbappe joined Los Blancos this summer, it would no doubt be the biggest value move of the summer. Profile wise, it would probably be only beaten by Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona to join PSG when it comes to transfers.
Whether Mbappe leaves PSG this summer or when he is a free agent, it seems almost inevitable that the young French international will join Real Madrid in the next year. It would be a major surprise if the youngster backtracks and signs a new deal with the Parisians. The next week could be fascinating, as this story develops.
