Prediction and odds for the game:  Manchester City (1/7) vs Leeds (16/1)

We are backing Phil Foden to be anytime goalscorer at evens

When: Tuesday 14 December 2021, Kick-off 20:00

Where: The Etihad Stadium

On Tuesday night, Manchester City host Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium, as the home team look to stay ahead of their rivals at the top of the Premier League table.

Manchester City

The reigning English champions are on a stellar recent run of results of late. However, the Citizens made hard work of a 1-0 win over Wolves last time out, as the team from the Midlands finished the game with ten men following the dismissal of striker Raul Jimenez.

The victory over Bruno Lage’s team was their sixth straight win in the Premier League. Their recent results have seen Pep Guardiola’s team climb to the top of the table. However, Liverpool in second place are just a point adrift of the champions, while second-place Chelsea are just a further point behind.

Manchester City have won seven of their previous nine home matches in the English top-flight. The Citizens have also kept clean sheets in seven of those nine matches in the run. City will be wary of Leeds though, as the team from Yorkshire recorded a 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium last season, despite finishing the game with ten men.

Leeds

The visitors head into this game on the back of just one win in their previous six Premier League games. Last time out, Marcelo Bielsa’s team suffered a late 3-2 defeat at title-chasing Chelsea. The defeat leaves the Whites just five points clear of the relegation zone.

Poor defensive displays have been at the heart of Leeds recent poor results, as the visitors have kept just two clean sheets in nine away matches in the Premier League.

Bielsa’s team have not been great travellers either, though, as the visitors have claimed just one win in their last eight away games in the Premier League. They have also kept just one clean sheet in those recent eight matches away from home.

Leeds have not been easy opponents for City of late, as the Citizens have won just two of the last eight meetings with the team from Yorkshire.

Conclusion

Manchester City are in the sort of form in the Premier League where they don’t have to be at their best to get a result. Leeds form has not been great of late, but they caused Chelsea problems last time out.

There is no value in the home win. Instead, we are turning to the goals market and backing City midfielder Phil Foden to be an anytime goalscorer. He looked lively last time out and should flourish against Bielsa’s team. The other recommendation we are making is to back both teams to score at odds of 7/5, as Leeds showed what a threat they can cause in the defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Our Tips: we are backing Phil Foden to be an anytime goalscorer at evens and/or both teams to score at odds of 7/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
