Luka Modric will stay at Real Madrid for another year after his current deal was set to end in the summer.
The Croatian midfield maestro is still a key part of Real Madrid’s immediate plans and had another terrific performance in midfield alongside Toni Kroos, who confirmed he would be staying with Los Blancos earlier this week as well.
Luka Modric set for Real Madrid contract extension
Modric, 37, had been set to leave the club at the end of the season but according to the Spanish sports website Relevo, Modric has now agreed to stay for one more year. Modric who arrived in Madrid in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur, has been a longstanding member of Real’s successful midfield in which he has won three La Liga titles, five Champions Leagues, and five FIFA Club World Cups.
In 2018, Modric won the Ballon d’Or, an award presented to the best male footballer in the world every year.
