Reports this morning suggest that players at Chelsea are excited by the prospect of former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino taking over at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Mauricio Pochettino is now the red-hot favorite to take the job on a permanent basis as current interim manager Frank Lampard is set to step away from the club in the summer.

What’s the latest in Chelsea’s search for a new manager?

Pochettino will be trusted as the man to oversee an overhaul in players and his experience of managing in the Premier League with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur is believed to be a huge reason why he remains Todd Boehly’s main man for the job. Chelsea, who have lost five out of their last six matches, currently sit 11th in the Premier League and are out of all the cup competitions in what has turned out to be a disastrous first season under Boehly’s ownership of the club.

Whilst manager of Paris Saint-Germain, 51-year-old Pochettino won last season’s Ligue 1 title before departing the club by mutual consent in the summer.
