Barcelona are interested in signing Belgian wing-wizard Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid.
The 29-year-old winger is set to be out of contract at Atleti at the end of next summer and journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Barcelona has the option to buy Carrasco for a fee close to $22m, with manager Xavi Hernandez a fan of the midfielder.
Carrasco, in two separate spells at the Civitas Metropolitano, has scored 33 goals in 188 La Liga appearances from Los Colchoneros, winning the 2018 Europa League and La Liga in 2021.
Yannick Carrasco to Barcelona?
During his time under Diego Simeone, Carrasco has also shown his versatility, being deployed as a wing-back in the Argentine’s favored 3-5-2 formation during Atletico Madrid’s title-winning campaign of 2020-21, in which Carrasco made 30 league appearances, scoring six goals.
And it is believed that it is Carrasco’s versatility that has impressed Xavi, who said of the Belgian: “Carrasco, great player. He works a lot because sometimes he has to cover the entire left wing.”
