Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Portuguese attacking midfielder Pedro Goncalves from Sporting Lisbon this summer.
The 24-year-old was awarded Young Player of the Year in Portugal in 2020 and 2021 and has continued his excellent form this season, scoring an impressive 19 goals from 44 appearances in all competitions. It is believed that Goncalves is the type of midfielder needed at Tottenham Hotspur that is needed to unlock the best out of forwards Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane, should they wish to remain at the club in the summer, after Spurs were humiliated 6-1 at Newcastle United yesterday.
Tottenham in talks for Pedro Goncalves
According to The Sun, rumors of Goncalves’s move have bemused some Spurs fans who believe that unpopular Chairman Daniel Levy should be focusing on bringing in a new manager first before thinking about new signings.
Goncalves most famously scored against Tottenham’s arch-rivals Arsenal from the halfway line to help knock the Gunners out of the Europa League this season.
