Failure to beat relegation will see Leeds United forced to offload several first-team players, and according to reports, one star would has a ‘good chance’ of leaving Elland Road is winger Wilfried Gnonto.
Even though the 19-year-old only joined the Whites last year, after enjoying an impressive opening season in the Premier League, interest in the Italian is believed to be growing.
Wilfried Gnonto to leave Leeds United?
Being a senior international for Italy, clubs in Serie A are reportedly aware of Gnonto’s potential availability and have already expressed their interest, however, according to journalist Alex Crook, there is at least one Premier League club chasing the winger’s signature, and that is Todd Boehly’s Chelsea.
“Definitely if they go down,” the British journalist told Give Me Sport. “I was told Chelsea are keen on him. He’s a raw talent, but he’s shown that he can do it in the Premier League.
“There are clubs in Italy that like him as well. So yeah, I think there’s a big chance Wilfried Gnonto could go.”
Despite spending nearly $1 billion in the last two transfer windows and having multiple wingers on their roster, including Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk, Chelsea’s interest in Gnonto is thought to be genuine – whether or not the 19-year-old would prefer to stay in England or move closer to home remains to be seen though.
