Arsenal have reportedly decided to sell first-team veteran midfielder Granit Xhaka at the end of the season.

Xhaka, 30, has been a mainstay in the Gunners’ senior team since he joined from German side Borussia Monchengladbach back in 2015.

However, approaching the twilight of his career, the Swiss midfielder is expected to depart the Emirates at the end of the season with Chelsea’s Mason Mount identified as a potential replacement.

That’s according to British newspaper the Daily Mail, who believe this season in London will be Xhaka’s last despite the midfielder featuring in the majority of Arsenal’s games during a season that has seen them challenge for the Premier League title.

As for Mount – after so far failing to agree to a contract extension at Chelsea, the Englishman is a genuine candidate to move on, and although Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are the favorites to sign him, Arsenal’s reported interest could see a transfer tug-o-war play out over the coming months.
