Barcelona are considering letting forward Ansu Fati leave the club as the Catalans look to fund a deal to re-sign club legend Lionel Messi.
Spanish international Fati has found himself down the pecking order at the Catalan giants this season as the club looks destined to win their first La Liga title since 2019. And according to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Jorge Mendes, Fati’s agent, believes a Premier League club will stump up Barcelona’s $76m asking price for the 20-year-old, despite his reservations about leaving the club in the early stage of his career.
Barcelona transfer news: Ansu Fati may be used as makeweight in Lionel Messi deal
Due to the good performances of fellow-wide men Ferran Torres, Raphinha, and Ousmane Dembele, Fati has struggled to find minutes on the pitch this season for the La Liga leaders, who are currently 11 points clear of bitter rivals second-placed Real Madrid with six games to go.
When asked about Fati following his side’s 4-0 home win over Real Betis on Saturday, in which Fati provided an assist for the last goal, head coach Xavi Hernandez said: “It’s normal to have competition. In this moment, I see that Ferran and Raphinha feel a little better”.
