Brighton & Hove Albion are edging closer toward agreeing a deal for out-of-contract Liverpool star James Milner, according to The Guardian.
The Seagulls have already flashed the cash this summer, as they have agreed a club-record deal with Watford for Joao Pedro.
James Milner edging close to Brighton transfer
Brighton have turned to the veteran in their bid to replace Alexis Mac Allister, who looks certain to leave the Amex when the summer transfer window opens. Milner is seen as an affordable move for the Seagulls, as he will be available on a free transfer when his current deal with Liverpool expires at the end of the season.
The 37-year-old has been a mainstay in the Premier League throughout his career, having played in every season since making his debut in 2002. Milner has won the top-flight title on three occasions throughout his career, and his versatility could be a huge bonus for the Seagulls.
This term, he has featured 27 times for Liverpool, with 21 of his appearances coming from the substitutes bench.
