Bayer Leverkusen could be set to renew their interest in Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka this summer, according to the Mirror.
The Bundesliga giants attempted to sign the Switzerland international last summer, but Mikel Arteta was keen to keep hold of the former Gunners captain.
Bayer Leverkusen renew transfer interest in Arsenal star
Arsenal knocked back Leverkusen’s interest last summer, but the Gunners could be more willing to do business this summer. Xhaka only has 12 months remaining on his current deal, and the club may look to cash-in on one of their star performers to help finance a summer move for Declan Rice.
The reports have claimed that the decision will be left in the hands of Xhaka, who has been a success story for the Gunners this term.
The Swiss has enjoyed his best scoring season for Arsenal this term, netting five league goals in 34 outings. Meanwhile, he has added seven assists. But, with the Gunners likely to bring in at least two new midfielders, he may see this summer as a perfect opportunity to take on a new challenge.
