Man United reportedly weighed up a move for Morocco World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat in January before making their loan move for Marcel Sabitzer, according to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube show, via Daily Briefing.

United was reportedly impressed with the midfielder throughout the World Cup, but instead opted for a move for Bayern Munich star Marcel Sabitzer.

Man United opted against Amrabat transfer move

While United examined a move for Amrabat, they didn’t ultimately make a move for the midfielder. It is also unlikely that the Red Devils will renew that initial interest in the summer, with Barcelona leading the race to sign the Morocco international.

Amrabat was a target among many of Europe’s top clubs in January, as he was one of the stars of the World Cup in Qatar. He has also impressed for Fiorentina throughout the season, as the Italian club chases success in both the Europa Conference League and Coppa Italia.
