Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has told Sky Sports that he wants to stay at the club beyond this summer.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder is set to be out of contract at the end of the season but has expressed his desire to stay at Stamford Bridge after a disappointing season for the Blues.

Speaking on the program Football Daily, Kante said: “I want to be part of Chelsea’s future, for sure. It’s an exciting project. I want to stay here, of course”.

And the World Cup winner looked back to his best at the weekend, providing an assist for Conor Gallagher’s equalizer in Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Bournemouth.

The Frenchman has been a huge part of the Blues’ success in recent years, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, and the Club World Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge since arriving in 2016 but after an injury-riddled season, the energetic midfielder has only managed seven league appearances all season, leaving his Chelsea future in doubt.

As for Kante’s Chelsea teammate and forgotten man Tiemoue Bakayoko, the on-loan AC Milan midfielder will not be making his move permanent at the San Siro according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira. The 28-year-old will return to Chelsea at the end of the season but is not expected to play for the club again.
