New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to make Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte his first signing as Blues boss this summer.

Ugarte, 22, has had two very impressive seasons in the Portuguese capital since joining from Famalicao, forming a formidable partnership with Pedro Goncalves in the middle of Ruben Amorim’s midfield.

It was reported last week that Paris Saint Germain had stolen a march to sign the highly-rated midfielder but according to Sky Sports, Chelsea have now held talks with the Uruguayan who reportedly has a $65m release clause placed in his contract.

To many, this would be seen as a good bit of business for the Blues, who have already spent an astonishing $600m in Todd Boehly’s short tenure in charge of the club.

And new manager Pochettino is also reportedly lining up a new goalkeeper and center forward this summer, with the futures of on-loan forward Joao Felix, returning Romelu Lukaku, and out-of-form Kai Havertz all up in the air currently.
