Manchester City have entered concrete talks with Chelsea over a summer transfer for star midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Mateo Kovacic in talks to sign for Premier League champions

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, City have held positive discussions this week with the Croat’s representatives and are close to agreeing on personal terms. However, a fee is yet to be decided.

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring Kovacic to Bayern Munich this summer. Still, it is believed it is the midfielder’s preference to move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

City’s move for Kovacic will undoubtedly add to speculation that fellow midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will soon leave the club, with the German out of contract at the end of the month as Barcelona and Premier League rivals Arsenal hover over the situation.
