Newcastle United are expected to have to battle it out with Premier League rivals Aston Villa for the signature of Kieran Tierney this summer.

Tierney, 25, is prepared to leave North London this summer after holding talks with manager Mikel Arteta about his future.

This season the Scotland international has fallen down the pecking order behind summer signing Oleksander Zinchenko at left-back and as reported by The Times’ Tom Roddy, Villa boss Unai Emery is keen on bringing Tierney to Villa Park after initially signing the full-back during his 18-month spell as Arsenal manager in 2019 from Celtic.

Newcastle remain favorites for Scotland full-back’s signature

Newcastle remains Tierney’s expected summer destination, however, with the Magpies in the position of being able to offer Tierney Champions League football next term.

During his time at the Emirates Stadium, Tierney has won the FA Cup and Community Shield and the Gunners’ number three still has three years left to run on his current deal.
