Napoli have made a fast approach for German manager Julian Nagelsmann following the departure of head coach Luciano Spalletti.

Nagelsmann, only 35, has managed in Germany’s top tier since 2016 after becoming the youngest head coach in Bundesliga history when he took over Hoffenheim at the age of 28.

Since then, Nagelsmann’s star has continued to grow and he is currently available and out of work following his sacking by Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich back in March, leaving the club with a very high 71.4% win ratio, the fourth-highest of any manager in the club’s history.

Julian Nagelsmann rumored with move to Italy

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, however, Napoli’s approach for Nagelsmann does not mean that the German is the only name the Neapolitans are currently looking into.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly aware of Nagelsmann’s recent discussions with Paris Saint-Germain over taking over the French champions next season and so it is believed Vincenzo Italiano is seen as Napoli’s more realistic target at the moment, with the Italian currently preparing his Fiorentina side for tomorrow’s UEFA Conference League final against West Ham in Prague.
