Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have confirmed the transfer of Konrad Laimer on a free transfer via their official Social Media platforms today.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder was one of the stars of an RB Leipzig side that made it through to the knockout stages of the Champions League this season before a humbling 8-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of tomorrow’s finalists Manchester City.

Laimer’s transfer may add speculation to Bayern trio Joshua Kimmich, Marcel Sabitzer, and Leon Goretzka who have all been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena in recent weeks.

The Austrian signs on a four-year deal and will become Thomas Tuchel’s first signing in charge of the Bavarians when he joins at the conclusion of his contract at Leipzig on 30 June.

Speaking to Bayern’s in-house media team, Laimer stated, “It’s a dream come true for me. FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I will give everything for the club and the fans.”

In his last game for Leipzig, Laimer won the DFB Pokal, Germany’s version of the FA Cup, beating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in the final in Berlin.
