Uruguayan international Manuel Ugarte has announced he has completed his move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The 22-year-old confirmed the news to the Portuguese paper Record, saying, “I’m resting a bit and then it will be time to start at PSG. I’m going to a giant club, I can’t believe it yet. I’m very happy.”

The central midfielder will add much-needed steel to a flaky PSG side, who are looking to replace long-serving midfielder Marco Verratti and are open to the departure of Spanish international Fabian Ruiz this summer.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the move will be announced officially by PSG next month once the players return to pre-season following their summer holidays.

Chelsea had shown an interest in Ugarte but quickly moved their attention to Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo after reportedly refusing to pay close to the $65m fee for the Uruguayan.
