Real Madrid have announced that they have re-signed Spanish international Joselu Mato on a season-long loan.

The experienced 33-year-old was a bright spark in a disappointing campaign for Barcelona-based Espanyol, scoring an excellent 16 goals in 33 La Liga matches last season for a side that was eventually relegated.

Los Blancos will look to sign another center forward this summer following the departure of club captain Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad.

Former Newcastle United man Joselu joins the Spanish giants for a second spell at the Bernabeu following his two-year spell between 2010 and 2012.

The news was revealed via Madrid’s official club website with Joselu set to be presented as a Real player once more at a press conference on Tuesday set for 11:00 am local Spanish time, 11 years after first leaving for German club Hoffenheim.

Joselu was part of the Spain squad which won the UEFA Nations League yesterday, scoring the winner in the semi-final against Italy in The Netherlands on Thursday.
