Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has rejected the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia in a bid to stay at the top level.

The 32-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract at Anfield but is reportedly focused solely on his return to pre-season training following a disappointing campaign last term with the Reds.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp plans to keep Thiago

According to The Athletic’s James Pearce and David Ornstein, the Reds are prepared to let Thiago leave Anfield in the summer of 2024 but are currently relying on keeping the Spanish international whilst new midfield signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai bed into their new surroundings.

Liverpool have not received any written bids for Thiago so far with approaches being made directly straight to the player’s camp.

Thiago is also the subject of interest from another unnamed Saudi Arabia Pro League side- featuring high on the list of the Gulf State’s potential summer targets as the league’s profile grows by the week.
