German champions Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Georgian international goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

The 22-year-old shot-stopper has excelled since joining Los Che in 2021, saving the Mestalla outfit on numerous occasions by using his giant six ft six-inch frame to help make 105 saves last season in La Liga alone.

According to the Georgian journalist Lasha Kokiashvili, Mamardashvili is high on Thomas Tuchel’s shortlist of summer recruits with personal terms not expected to be an issue between the young goalkeeper and the Bavarians.

Mamardashvili is not expected to be an immediate starter at the Allianz Arena but at just 22, the Georgian has time on his side to establish himself as the Bavarians’ new long-term number one in the future with 37-year-old club captain Manuel Neuer approaching the twilight of his career after spending 12 years at the club.

The Georgian number one will not be short of options this summer, however, with Kokiashvili also reporting a number of Premier League clubs are showing an interest in the goaltender’s services this summer.
