Harry Maguire offered Man United lifeline?

Reports suggest that Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire is still wanted by head coach Erik Ten Hag despite being stripped of the captaincy.

Maguire has found himself woefully out of form for the previous two seasons but according to talkSPORT Ten Hag is privately keen to use Maguire’s experience around the United dressing room.

Harry Maguire set to stay at Old Trafford?

As reported yesterday, Maguire lost the captain’s armband at Old Trafford to talismanic attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes– previously vice-captain under Maguire.

The England international has attracted interest from Premier League clubs including Chelsea and former United boss David Moyes’ West Ham but remains relaxed about the situation and has reportedly informed his agent to wait unless an ideal offer comes through before September 1.

Despite struggling at club level, Maguire has remained a mainstay in Gareth Southgate’s England side since 2018 and has travelled with the United squad to New Jersey ahead of their pre-season tour of the US.
