Inter Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium will be full to capacity tonight as all-time legend Lionel Messi prepares to make his debut for the club.

As announced on their official social media platforms, The Herons’ have completely sold-out tonight’s Leagues Cup fixture against the dangerous Liga MX side Cruz Azul as the 36-year-old Argentinian World Cup winner prepares for only the third debut of his club career.

Lionel Messi set to make Inter Miami debut

After his signing was only officially confirmed last Sunday, Messi has had less than a full week of training with his new teammates making a start tonight look slightly in doubt. More realistically, Messi could announce himself as a Vice City player as a second-half substitute with fellow ex-Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets also due to make his first appearance for the club.

Tonight’s fixture is likely to come too soon for fellow former Catalan Jordi Alba, however, whose free transfer was only confirmed yesterday.

Messi will resume wearing his iconic number 10 shirt after donning the number 30 at French champions Paris Saint-Germain for the last two seasons. Barcelona’s all-time record goalscorer will hope he can help bring better fortunes to The Herons who are currently without a win in their last 11 MLS matches.
