Tottenham Hotspur are considering a surprise move for USMNT star Folarin Balogun this month from bitter North London rivals Arsenal.

The 22-year-old wants the opportunity of regular first-team football this season in order to keep his national team place ahead of next summer’s Copa America on US home soil.

Folarin Balogun set for move to cross city rivals?

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham are considering Balogun to fill the huge gap left by England captain Harry Kane’s departure.

As reported last week, Inter Milan were priced out of a move for Balogun- who will cost a fee north of $45m this summer with the Gunners likely to raise that price further if they were to sell to their North London rivals.

Unlike the Nerazzuri, however, Spurs immediately have access to the funds for Balogun after selling star asset Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for $110m on Friday.

Brazilian international forward Richarlison led the line for Spurs yesterday but failed to convince during their 2-2 draw against Brentford, missing a clear opportunity to win the match in the second half.
