Manchester United are considering an approach for Brentford full-back Rico Henry after Luke Shaw’s injury was found out to be worse than first thought.

Henry, 26, has been an extremely consistent performer for the Bees since arriving in 2016 and has made the step up to Premier League football seamlessly over the past two years.

Man United want new left-back this week

According to The Daily Mail’s Adrian Kamuba, Henry is now being considered as well as fellow defensive targets Marc Cucurella, Sergio Reguillon, and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso.

Henry missed just one Premier League match last term and has proved to be as adept as a left-back as he is as a left-wing-back for Thomas Frank’s side.

The Brentford number three is contracted with The Bees until 2026 so will not come cheap, especially with the Red Devils only beginning negotiations as late as the last week of the transfer window.

Henry is highly rated by Gareth Southgate as well and is expected to be selected in the England manager’s squad this week for the first time for next month’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine.
